Housing
Thanks in large part to continued job market growth in most employment sectors, the Washington DC housing market also continues to boom. In 2004 alone, over 38,000 housing units were constructed to meet growing demand. Sales of single family homes, apartments, condos and co-ops accounted for 13.4% of total sales. According to the 2000 census, the homeownership rate in the city was 40.8%, and the median value of owner-occupied homes was $157,200.
